Dear Mr. Sheppard,

Thank you for your subsequent e-mails. We were able to open the link,
thank you.

We think that the item you have in your possession pre-dates any product
manufactured by our present company and therefore we would have no
parts/service records etc. for this particular item that we could forward
on to you.
From discussing the pictures with people at our factory, we can only
estimate, but we guess that the unit must date from the late 50's/early
60's and was manufactured (as you of course know) by Maxol in Manchester,
which was owned by a Mr. B. Lomax.

The Maxol brand/company was sold (to us) sometime in the 60's, but to our
knowledge, we have never produced a fully copper water boiler, hence the
reasoning behind it pre-dating any of our items.

We agree with your own estimates that being as the data badge is etched
with an 'N', this would denote the use of Natural Gas as opposed to
bottled gas. However, being as the age of the appliance is uncertain,
Natural gas at the time may refer to 'Towns' gas.
We would say that the references to the injector and pilot are the
size/type, and 8Wg is 8water-guage pressure.

As to restoring this unit to use, even if you were able to bring the
burner-unit back to life, the current stringent regulations regarding the
use of gas burning appliances would probably not allow you to operate it
(e.g. the current legislation requires some kind of flame-failure device
on the burner).
Our only suggestion to you would be to perhaps consult a qualified gas
engineer or a gas heating company to see if there is a possibility of
manufacturing a replacement burner unit to current regulations, that would
replace/fit under the boiler.
Unfortunately our current production set up at our factory is not
conducive to such bespoke designs.

We wish you luck with this project.

kind regards

Chris Oakley
